A Nehru jacket, rerouted through the Andes.
We fell for the centuries-old Nehru silhouette — the mandarin collar, the clean line, no lapels to fuss with — and built our own as a tribute, with an Andean twist. A tambo was a resting place on the old mountain roads: somewhere to stop, get warm, and carry on. That's the job we gave this jacket. Sharp enough for the office, warm enough for a mountaintop, light enough to be the piece you actually pack.

Every button is carved from the seed of the Tagua palm — vegetable ivory that grows back, and never came from an elephant.

We work with seamstresses from rural communities of Ecuador to handcraft each of our pieces — work they do from their own homes, on their own terms, that lets them provide for their families. 15% of the price of every Tambo goes directly to the artisan who crafted it.
The mountains we grew up around.
The Tambo is named for the shelters that lined the old Andean roads — resting places between one village and the next. Ours is made along those same routes: wool from the highlands, sewing in Miranda, buttons carved from Amazon Tagua. Designed between Quito and Brooklyn.
